Kumeū is growing! But is it losing its “honest” country charm? As locals, we share our “approachable” thoughts.
We hear it all the time: “Kumeū is growing so fast! It’s not ‘country’ anymore.”
“Honestly,” we get it. The growth is “energetic.” The new “stylish” developments are changing the landscape. But as “human” locals, we think it’s an “energetic” and positive change.
It’s not losing its “soul”
“Honestly,” Kumeū’s “soul” was never just “paddocks.”
- It’s the “lifestyle”: The “soul” is in the “lifestyle.” It’s the vineyards, the markets, the “approachable” cafes, and the short drive to Muriwai.
- It’s the “human” community: The “soul” is in the “human” community. The new developments are bringing in new “energetic” families and “stylish” new businesses (and great coffee!).
- It’s better connected: The “hard work” of new infrastructure (like the motorway) makes life simpler. It “takes the hard work out of” getting to the city, but you still get to come home to the “simple” peace of the North-West.
The best of both worlds
We think Kumeū now has the “honest,” perfect balance.
You get the “stylish” new homes, “energetic” new cafes, and “simple” new supermarkets… and you still get the “approachable” local vineyards, the “human” rural feel, and the space to breathe.
It’s not “country” vs. “city.” It’s “country” and “city.” And “honestly,” we think that’s the best “lifestyle” in Auckland.
